Obituary of Gilles Achilles Martin

On June 29, 2022, Gilles A. Martin of Fort Coulonge, QC, passed away at The Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) at the age of 69 years after a battle with lymphoma. Gilles is predeceased by his mother (Viola Paul), and leaves behind his four children, Fiona (Derek), Liz (Kent), Emma (Mike), and William. Gilles is also survived by his three sisters, Caroline (Cal), Yvette, and Sue. He lovingly shared eight grandchildren with his former partner, Laura Lee (Morin): Isla, Liam, Ada, Kate, Cora, Connor, Henry and pre-deceased by Rose.

Gilles was known to friends and family as someone with a passion for music, his entrepreneurial spirit, and celebrating life’s simple pleasures, like a Sunday night dinner with family and a cold silver bullet. Always there when you needed him, with good humour and smiles in tow. A favourite uncle to too many cousins to count, a loving brother, father, and grandfather.

Friends and family are invited to join us in a celebration of life, held at the Pinecrest Cemetery located at 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa ON, on Monday, July 4, 2022 – visitation at 1:00 pm with a service to begin at 2:00 pm.
