To Susan's brother and family, and her extended family,
My sincere condolences for your loss. I was very sad to hear of Susan's passing. I was her colleague for many years at the Gallery. She was always working hard to make things better, whether it was fundraising by selling tulip bulbs for the Lung Association (most of my garden tulips are from this work), or volunteering for the union, or making gifts for our silent auction fundraiser at work (I have beautiful cards by Susan), or contributing and participating in our workplace exercise classes. And we shared a birthday. I am sad that she was so young and didn't have more years to enjoy her new life in retirement. I will think of her when my tulips bloom!
Sincerely,
Karen Wyatt

For the family of Susan,
I am a colleague who met Susan several years ago when she organized the Christmas tree decoration at the Chateau Laurier for the Gallery - in support of CHEO. I would bump into Susan from time to time at lunch hour yoga classes or in the corridors of the Gallery and always had a good chat with her. I enjoyed supporting her fundraising initiatives and was in awe of her generosity despite personal adversities. I am deeply saddened to learn that she is gone all too soon. I will miss her stories and her smiles.

Sincere condolence to Susan’s brother and nieces for their loss. I knew Susan for many years as a neighbour and friend at 191 Parkdale Avenue. Always inspired by her grit and convictions. She will surely be missed by everyone here who knew her.

I HAVE BEEN LIVING AT 191 PARDALE FOR 21 YEARS WHICH MEANS THAT IS HOW LONG I HAVE KNOWN HER. SHE WAS A ONE OF A KIND AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME THE FIRST TIME WE MET IN LOBBY. SHE TOOK THE TIME TO REGALE ME WITH STORIES OF TENANTS PAST AND PRESENT. I WAS LEFT WONDERING WHAT I HAD GOT MYSELF IN TO.
BUT IN 21 YEARS YOU GET TO UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE PEOPLE. SUSAN WAS AS BILLED. IN 30 SECONDS YOU KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO LOVE HER OR FIND ANOTHER APARTMENT BUILDING.
SHE COULD BE TOUGH BUT REASONABLE AND WAS AN EXCELLENT PRESIDENT OF OUR CONDO CORPORATION. THINGS ALWAYS GOT DONE JUST HER WAY.
THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADD MY VOICE TO THE CHORUS OF FRIENDS AND NEIBOURS
BILL O'CONNELL

My sincere condolences to The Short family and friends.
Susan was a dear friend and colleague. We had planned to travel to Paris next spring to celebrate my 60th birthday. Susan wanted to do yoga at the base of the Eiffel Tower, while I went up it. We were going to Versailles and both Susan and I were going shopping at Chanel-in fact, I wanted to reach out to well connected colleagues to see if they could assist us for a visit to Coco Chanel's private apartment on the third floor of Maison Chanel.
Susan was such a character, on a trip to Montreal before the pandemic, we found Ste-Catherine St closed to vehicular traffic for a summer festival, and happened upon an expensive muscle sports car. Susan brazenly walked over to the owner of the car, and asked him if she could sit in his car.
You can imagine the look on my face when she did that, but the car owner said, Yes and Susan got in. She asked me to take a photo of her on my cellphone. I gladly did. Only Susan could pull off sitting in a half million dollar car.
Sincerely,
Robert Barnes
