1935-2021

Professor Dimitri Kitsikis passed away peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa on August 28^th, 2021 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Ada (née Nikolarou) for 46 years. Loving father of Tatiana (Nicolas), Nicolas (Varouni), Agis (Shahrzad) and Kranay (Francesco). Proud grandfather of Stéphane, Sadhuvasi, Ksanavani, Marko, Sophia and Dylan Nikolas. Professor emeritus of the University of Ottawa, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, historian and poet, Dimitri was a scholar of international stature and a geopolitical thinker. He will be missed by his family, the academic community and his many followers.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 this Wednesday September 1, 2021 at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Ottawa. The visitation will be followed by a funeral service at 13:00 for close friends and family.

Following his own wishes, the burial will take place in the village of Pikoulianika (Mystras), near the city of Sparta in Greece later in September.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, ON, K2C 1N2).

Le Professeur Dimitri Kitsikis est décédé à l'hôpital Elisabeth Bruyère d'Ottawa le 28 Aout 2021 à l'âge de 86 ans.

Dimitri laisse dans le deuil son épouse de 46 ans Ada (née Nikolarou), ses quatre enfants Tatiana (Nicolas), Nicolas (Varouni), Agis (Shahrzad) et Kranay (Francesco), ses deux sœurs Beata et Elsa, ainsi que ses six petits-enfants, Stéphane, Sadhuvasi, Ksanavani, Marko, Sophia et Dylan Nikolas. Professeur émérite de l'Université d'Ottawa, membre de la Société Royale du Canada, historien et poète, Dimitri était un intellectuel de renommée internationale et un penseur géopolitique. Il laisse un vide profond à sa famille, à la communauté académique et à ses fidèles admirateurs.

Les funérailles auront lieu à 13h00 ce Mercredi 1^er Septembre à l'église Grecque Orthodoxe de la Dormition de la Vierge Marie à Ottawa. Compte tenu de l'épidémie de la Covid19, la cérémonie funéraire sera uniquement réservée à la famille et aux amis proches. Elle sera cependant précédée par une exposition du corps à partir de 12h00 pour ceux qui souhaitent lui rendre hommage.

Selon ses dernières volontés, l'enterrement aura lieu plus tard en Septembre, dans le village de Pikoulianika (Mystras), près de la ville de Sparte en Grèce.
