When Marjorie was a very small child my late mother Ivy Horton (as she was then) was employed by Mr & Mrs Frank Littlemore to look after Marjorie during the day. My mother loved this job and use on occasions to take Marjorie to visit her own mother (known as Nana Horton). I don’t think Mr & Mrs Littlemore would necessarily have approved of such visits so my mother asked Marjorie who I think was probably about 3 (though I am not sure) not to say anything – especially one time when Marjorie got some paint on her coat whilst visiting my Nan’s home. Naturally of course a young child forgets such secrets!!!! So fond was my mother of Marjorie that it is no coincident that I too am called Marjorie.
My mother remained in this employment even when Maurice was born but left when Robert came on the scene.
Over the years my mother and I kept in touch with Marjorie and family and when they came to England to visit Maurice and Pat we usually got to see them. You can imagine that these visits were welcomed by Marjorie and my mum and gave them chance to catch up on days long gone.
Whilst Marjorie, Alan and family made a lovely life in Canada I don’t think you could have taken “Runcorn” out of Marjorie and it was always obvious how much she enjoyed her visits “home”! Christmas time always brought us news from the Ashbrook Family.
Marjorie was a kind, unassuming and charming ,lady – not to mention being extremely artistic and it was our privilege to have known her. Now may she rest in peace.

To my dear sister/sister in law Marj,
Allan saw the opportunities that Canada held for you both and you have had a wonderful life and have a created a beautiful family, you must be so proud.
We had a lovely holiday with you shortly after we were married and we have special memories of the times you visited England and stayed with us. On one occasion you brought Susan and Stephen to stay at our house which we loved.
Our bond has remained strong despite the miles that separated us.
We shared common interest in family history. We always looked forward to your emails on the day of the Littlemore’s family gathering and we would read out your e mail after the meal and everyone was so pleased to hear from you in Canada.
We enjoyed our weekly Skype calls and were just getting the hang of them but sadly you left us suddenly and unexpectedly.
We miss you.
Lots of love Maurice and Pat. xxxx ❤️❤️

Auntie Marjorie was a very dear Auntie and despite spending my life apart from her I still felt very close to her. Whenever we were lucky enough to spend precious time together I always felt like we’d never been apart.
I was very grateful to Auntie Marjorie for helping Mum with my Wedding cake and wedding flowers.
I am so proud of my lovely Auntie who travelled to Canada and made a beautiful life and family there.
I will always remember you with fondness.
Lots of love your niece Diane. (& Peter)
