M. D. Duncan posted a condolence
Friday, January 8, 2021
Dear Mrs. Mackie and family, On behalf of my late father, Donald McC. Duncan and myself I would like to express my condolences during your time of loss. I first met Mr Mackie when he and Dad were field commissioners working in the Halifax Hollis Street Boy Scout Office with Mr.W. Speed, who was then the district field commissioner. Since I was very young at that time, my awareness of Mrs.Mackie was by the coupling of your names, Phyllis and Jim , which was then the social norm. Of course if by chance I was ever to address you, which I suspect was very rare, it would have been Mr. or Mrs. Mackie, which continues today.
My hope is that during these difficult day you will be able to find some comfort in the thoughts and deeds of others and by the happy, precious memories of a loving husband, father and grandfather.
With sympathy, Marilee Duncan ( daughter of Donald and Doris Duncan) Dartmouth N.S.

Jim and Marion Petrie posted a condolence

Very sorry to hear about Jim’s passing but rejoice knowing he enjoyed such a full life. He was a loyal friend to many but the most important thing in his life was the relationship he enjoyed with his children and grandchildren. Talking about them always brought a smile to his face.
I was privileged to be introduced to Jim on a professional basis, but our relationship developed into a long-lasting personal friendship that continued until his death. Whether in business or in his personal life Jim always set an example as an ethical gentleman. We were very privileged to have known Jim. Marion and I will miss him.
