Obituary of Gina Hedges

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gina Hedges, age 55, on January 16, 2025, at Toronto General Hospital. Gina faced her health challenges with incredible strength, resilience, and hope, always advocating and inspiring those around her.

Gina was a gifted and passionate teacher, dedicating her career to dance and massage therapy. She was a beloved Registered Massage Therapist who brought comfort and healing to many. She loved to dance, with salsa holding a special place in her heart. Gina was also deeply spiritual and shared her wisdom and creativity generously. A talented artist, she found joy in her home studio, often painting and creating alongside her cherished niece Katherine.

Gina is survived by her loving family: her sister, Stephanie Hedges (Henry Lovett Doust); her niece, Katherine Lovett Doust; her sister Sue Deon; her father, Richard Hedges; her Aunt June MacMillan; and her cousins Shelley, Steven, Christy, Matthew, and Leah Gomme. She also leaves behind a wide circle of devoted friends who loved her dearly.

We would very much like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Dialysis nurses at The Ottawa Hospital Riverside Campus for their dedication and care. You are true angels and Gina appreciated every one of you. We would also like to thank Dr Sayed and the Transplant Team at the Toronto General Hospital who fought very hard for a different outcome.
