Obituary of Helen Reilly
Reilly, Helen (née Tutecky)
1948 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Reilly (née Tutecky) on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Nakina, Ontario to George and Kateryna (née Lazorenko) Tutecky, Helen was one of nine children. Her family moved to Spencerville when she was just two years old, where she spent much of her life.
Helen was a loving wife to Blair and a devoted and proud mother to three daughters: Lisa Severson (John), Lois Selleck (Kevin), and Lori Belton (Rob).
She was a doting grandmother who cherished her grandchildren: Quinton Selleck (Madison Adams), Kirtus Selleck, Luke Severson, Emily Severson (Billy Gainford), and Meg Severson (Cooper Kingston). Helen also loved her grand pups, Maddie and Mabel, who brought joy to her days.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Lucy Ortloff (the late Walter) of Nanaimo, BC, Olga Leschshin (Ed) of Sudbury, ON, Mary Foot (the late John) of Spencerville, ON, Anna Reid (Reg) of Domville, ON, Bill Tutecky of Stoney Creek, ON, and Albert Tutecky (Erin) of Spencerville, ON.
She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, George and Kateryna Tutecky and by her brothers John (the late Eleanor) and George (the late Penny).
A woman of many talents, Helen was known for her passion for gardening, where she found immense joy tending to her plants and flowers. She was also an exceptional cook and baker, skills she lovingly passed down to her daughters. Above all, she adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Helen’s love, warmth, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, and a beautiful garden that will forever bloom in her honour.
A private family service was held.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Kemptville District Hospital and The Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their kind, caring and compassionate care.
Memorial Donations to The Canadian Cancer Society appreciated by the family.
