Kostas Papadakos

Obituary of Kostas Gus Papadakos

With profound sadness and fond remembrance, we say our final goodbyes to our beloved Kosta Gus Papadakos at the age of 89. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved and dedicated husband of Falia (Fay) for 55 years, and adoring and loving father of Lea Varvaresos (Tom) and Jenny Noonan (Mark). He is the proud and cherished Papou of Constantina (Romy) and George Varvaresos, and of Connor, Nicholas, and Clark Noonan. Dearly loved brother of Georgia Manolakos (late Panagiotis) and Dina Anastasakos (late Giorgos) in Greece. Predeceased by his parents George and Eleftheria Papadakos, cherished older brother Tzimis Papadakos and much loved godson/nephew Tzimis Koutrakos. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends in Canada and abroad.

Kosta was born in Dafni, Laconias, Greece. At the age of 20, he courageously left his family for a better life, and immigrated by sea landing on Ellis Island en route to Canada. With only a Grade 6 education and $7 in his pocket, he successfully built a good life through his sheer determination, hard work and faith. He married his sweetheart Falia from his same home-town and settled in Arnprior where he raised his family and became best-known for his 25 years at Kostas Restaurant serving up his famous fries and gravy to multiple generations of local residents.

Affectionately known as “Kotsariko”, he was the heart and soul of his family and was best known for his unwavering dedication to provide for his loved ones. His big heart and generous soul were always willing to help out others in need. He was the most loving and loyal son, brother, husband, father, and Papou who adored his grandkids. Kosta was a passionate man who always enjoyed good food, a good drink and good times with friends and family. His presence will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved his humourous, kind-hearted, and fun-loving nature and especially his smiling eyes.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at Garden Terrace for their many years of kind and compassionate care shown to their beloved “Kosta”.
