Obituary of Wendy Elizabeth Nezan

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Wendy Elizabeth Nezan (nee Smith) announces her passing on October 4, 2024, at the age of 69.  She is survived by her sons, Cory (Kathy), Stephen (Kelley) and her granddaughters Sophie (Christian), Lilah, Haylee and Chloe.  She is also survived by her siblings Karen Gorr (Dennis), Stephen Smith, Mark Smith, and Kelly Medeiros (John) as well as numerous nephews and nieces who lovingly referred to her as Auntie Nenny. Wendy is predeceased by her husband Ted Blain, mother Gloria Grenon, father Robert Kingsbury and her brothers Robert and Michael Smith.

Wendy spent most of her adult life in the Carleton Place/Almonte area. She lived and worked in Perth for numerous years in the travel industry and had a large, loyal client base due to her never- ending compassion and knowledge.  She, herself, took every opportunity to travel and had a special trip to Alaska in 2023 with her sons where they made countless unforgettable memories.  Her overwhelming love however was for her family, notably being the caregiver to all.  She had an extra special place in her heart for each of her granddaughters for who she adored more than words.

A heartfelt thank you to those who helped and provided support over the past few weeks, including her homecare nurse, Stephanie from Bayshore, the oncology team at the Ottawa General Hospital and the staff at the Carleton Place Hospital including nurses Lindsay, July and James. We have overwhelming gratefulness and gratitude for the care and compassion provided by Dr. Bastin-Millar.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital-Palliative Care, are appreciated.  When making a donation, please put Wendy's name in the Tribute name field. As per Wendy’s request a private service has been arranged.
