I was very sad and shocked to hear of Kyle's passing. I worked with Kyle at Health Canada from end of 2020 to mid-2021. Our projects were complex and quite challenging and we were looking for someone who can think outside the box. Kyle rose up to the challenge. He was smart, resourceful, a fast learner, and had a knack for troubleshooting experiments. He was always ready to help out and take on more responsibilities.I remember asking him one day to help me clean an old lab so we can have more space and he did the backbreaking work of hauling out old equipment and boxes without any complaints then continued with his experiments. Because of the restrictions during the height of the pandemic, he and I were usually the only ones in the lab so I had the privilege of talking to him about a wide range of topics. During a lull in our lab work or during lunch, he talked about his plans for the future and getting his own apartment, his family, he gave me advice on plants, he listened to my stories about my young daughter and parenthood, we laughed about the pitfalls of online dating, horror movies (he did not know about the Gremlins so I suggested that he watch the 80s movie), and favourite Halloween costumes. I remember he would sometimes take a few seconds to think before giving an answer. Outside the lab, we were part of a fantasy hockey league with other lab staff and he got along well with all our colleagues and collaborators. Although I worked alongside Kyle for a short time, he blazed bright and he was unforgettable. Thank you, Kyle, for all the help and the memories. To Dulce and Larry, although we have never met, please know that your son was a great part of our team and you raised him very well. I wish you both peace and strength.

I met Kyle in the fall of 2009 when were in the same class together for grade 8 (807, or 80 awesome as everyone called it). Flash forward 4 years after meeting we dated from 16-20. I never knew that the guy I met at 13 would end up having such a significant impact in my life. I remember when Kyle started learning how to really cook, he loved making risotto. I can't even remember the number of times he made it, but I do know it was A LOT and I haven't been able to eat it since. I often think about all the wonderful meals your mother cooked for us, from her making me tostadas for my birthday or chilaquiles or even quacamole without onions because she knew how much I hated them. Our families remained close after all these years and it was nice to spend Christmas with you, Dulce, Larry and both of my parents a few years ago. You were a wonderful human and an incredible scientist. I don't think I would have been able to pass university physics without you as my lab partner. So thank you for that! I found a picture of us that we took at prom in 2014 that I thought I had lost in my grade 12 yearbook the other day, I feel like it was a sign that you're here with us, with everyone you loved and who loved you.
Dulce and Larry, thank you so much for welcoming me into your family with open arms. I will never be able to express how sorry I am that you've lost Kyle.
Kyle, thank you for all the memories we made together. You will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

I met Kyle soon after moving to Canada at 4 years old where he quickly became my best friend. We were next door neighbours and spent countless hours together. Selling lemonade on the street. Skipping rocks at our neighbourhood pond. Looking for four leaf clovers in his backyard clover patch. Literally endless memories. Since Kyle was an only child, my sister and I made a point of thinking of him as one of us, and we considered ourselves so lucky to have such a wonderful companion to share our childhood with. Kyle was like a brother to me, and him and I had a mutual understanding that surpasses the friendships that I’ve had throughout my entire life. I’ll remember all the times that people thought we were siblings and we didn’t correct them since we thought it was funny.
I remember he would always play super loud rock music in Larry’s truck as we drove to softball practice. I remember thinking it was way too loud and I didn’t like it but it was still entertaining to see Kyle - a sweet sensitive boy- absolutely loving those aggressive heavy metal tracks. I remember all the times I ate chilaquiles with him and Dulce. Or when his family would bring him Mexican candies that we couldn’t get here, and he would selflessly share them with me even though he only had a few of them. I remember he made his bed every single morning which made me feel like such a slob, but I felt inspired by how organized he was with all aspects of his life. He took care of all his possessions and appreciated the little things in life that most kids take for granted. He was precocious child who was absolutely a role model to me, and he truly inspired me to be the best version of myself alongside him.
Dulce and Larry - I’ll never forget how it felt to have such an open invitation to come to your loving home. I would not have a real understanding of what neighbours could be if it wasn’t for the kindness of your family. My heart is broken in so many pieces to hear that Kyle has left us, and there are no words to express this feeling, but I will never forget the memory of him being such a kind and supportive best friend / brother from another mother.
Him and I were both born in October - he was exactly 1 year and 2 weeks older than me. I don’t remember many birthdays but I always remembered his - October 3rd. While we grew apart after I moved away, it was always extra meaningful to me to touch base with him on his birthday and mine. I will always blow out candles for the both of us.
Kyle, I’ll never forget our friendship and the impact that you had on my childhood and who I am today- may you rest in peace.

Our family met Kyle, Dulce and Larry as new neighbours and settlers in Stittsville and Canada. It was a journey full of new experiences and challenges for our children Gabrielle and Pascal. But having the wonderful spirit of Kyle as a neighbour was like getting a new family member. The "3 Amigos" were so inseparable for all those years, whether swimming in the backyard pool, exploring the backyard wilderness, sharing birthdays, Halloweens and BBQs, and of course all the years of softball with Kyle and Pascal.
It remains a huge highlight of our family memories as Kyle was truly a good soul - caring, funny, athletic, competitive and smart - a true people person.
We extend our deepest condolences to Larry and Dulce and the extended family for such a tragic loss - he was taken from us much too early. We will be looking for Kyle's smile and guidance in our hearts.

I would like to offer my sincere and deepest condolences to Kyle’s family.
