Obituary of Marie Claire Marguerite Rose Giroux (nee St. Georges)
Claire Giroux passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, two weeks shy of her 94th birthday. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 47 years, Gerald J. Giroux (Cdr, RCN/C.A.F. ret.) (2001), followed by her sons George (2016) and Michael (2023) (Nathalie). She is survived by her son Robert (Barbara), grandchildren Nicholas, Catherine, Jessica (Ives), Madeleine (Patrick), Pascale, David (Vanessa), and Nathaniel, and great-grandchildren Beverley, Gabriella, Georgia, Jasper, and Frederick. She excitedly awaited the imminent arrival of three more great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful to Debbi Walton for her unconditional support of the family over the years and to Elina Olson, Marie Kane, Leslie Trenholm, and the many others who showed care, kindness and friendship. Thank you also to the team at the Civic Hospital’s Acute Monitoring Area B5 Wing who cared not only for our mother/grandmother’s well-being, but also for the family’s needs. Your compassion was greatly appreciated. Many sincere thanks to the staff and residents of the Waterford Retirement Residence for providing a welcoming and warm environment allowing Claire, in her final years, to be cared for and to enjoy her life to the fullest.
