Jean Butler was a quiet, charming lady but also a force of nature. I first met her when I came to Harmer House eight years ago. She was very active with our library, our gardens and our bingo night. As the years passed Jean still did what she could and surprised many of us with her energy and sense of purpose. I will miss her coming down the hall and meeting her at the elevator. She was so very kind to all and her presence will definitely be missed by the residents at Harmer House. R.I.P. dear Jean and may God bless you. Anne Marie

It was with great sadness we learned of the passing of Ted's sister, Jean. Her warmth and caring for others are a testament to a life well lived, filled with love and joy. Ted and I will forever treasure our memories made over a lifetime with Jean and Rene. One of our favourite memories, the four of us walking arm in arm down Broadway on our way to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City in NYC. Jean will be missed but not forgotten.

My deep sympathy in your loss of Jean.
I only met Jean a few times since she came to Bells Corners and mostly through the BCUC UCW group that came to my home for Christmas lunch and also in June for a few years. Each time she gave me a colourful knitted dishcloth .. I still have them .. well and truly used, except that original one .. sadly it wore away last week ..
Jean met my Mum, Ida, on that first visit, Mum was the UCW member and a little older than herself, was in her rooms upstairs.
Whenever I saw her, she always asked about Mum.
Last year August 3, the day she celebrated her 90th, she came to BCUC to join us as we celebrated the life of my Mum on what would've been her 108th birthday. I didn't realise they shared the same birthday. We sang *happy birthday* to Mum, Jean and a few others who would celebrate that week. She gave me a pure white dishcloth.
Bless you Jean
Margaret L .. Ida's daughter

Please accept our sincere condolences on this beautiful ladies passing. When we first moved into Harmer House, it didn't take long for Jean to introduce herself and makes us feel welcome. She became a neighbor who just popped in or knocked on the door with a jar in hand, for John to open. Her knowledge of the world and her surroundings, plus her amazing compassion for others, was second to none. John and I were proud to call her our friend. RIP Beautiful Lady!

Mrs Butler was the kindest , sweetest person I had the privilege of knowing for over 50 yrs. I spent many years in the Butler family home in Glenwood and was so welcomed by Mrs Butler she sewed prom dresses for Valerie and I and I remember many shopping trips with her. Many years later she was so kind to me when I lost my husband and it was a joy to know her.
My deepest condolences to the Butler family, she is a great loss but she had a wonderful life and was loved by so many who knew her , she will be missed and I carry those memories with me forever Cathy McDermott

Our deepest sympathies to you upon the passing of your mom, lovely Aunt Jeannie. I have many happy and fun memories of travelling with Aunt Jean to Syracuse to "shop the deals" and travelling with her to Niagara Falls. I fondly remember several afternoons gabbing around the kitchen table with her at my mom's place on Urbandale in Ottawa while growing up. I remember her lovely birthday gifts of Jean Nate body wash and of her helping me with those funky paints in a stand-up tube carrousel, as well as her helping me with many other arts and crafts. She even helped me make a bridesmaid dress in the basement at Urbandale, patiently helping me rip out all the seams that I had struggled with, and then helping me re-do the seams on the old sewing machine. Wonderful memories. Lifting you all up in prayer. Much love, Elaine, Tim, and Samantha, The Graitsons in Belleville, Ontario.

Was so sorry to hear of Aunt Jean's passing. Alix and I had talked many times about making the trip out East to visit Jean and family, but unfortunately never did. I really enjoyed the random texts or Facebook messages I would get from her, often during a curling match or other sporting event.
She will be missed, our condolences to all.
