I knew Dorothy for many years, both at work and outside of work.
I already knew her when I first came to the Neatby bldg on the experimental farm. I will always remember her kindness at that time and how warmly she welcomed me. She helped to make the move to a new environment so much easier.
She had so many nice qualities as many of you have said and I would say that her warmth and interest in people really made her stand out from the crowd.
I send my sympathy to the family for their great loss,
Joanne Elsaesser

I offer my sincere condolences to Pat and the family. I hope that you will find some comfort in this time of grief by knowing that Dorothy had a lasting, positive impact on the people that knew her. I worked with Dorothy more than 20 years ago when she came into my lab for a short time, and I have only good memories of her. She was always friendly, helpful and kind to everyone she worked with. I saw her about a year ago when she came to my retirement party and, although I’d not seen her in years, she was exactly the same – happy and laughing with that infectious laugh of hers. I will always remember Dorothy’s kindness and generosity, and her calm and gentle personality will be a lasting legacy for those that knew her.

Dorothy was a happy, cheerful, and caring colleague and friend. I first met her in 2002. I always enjoyed chatting and working with her and grateful of the interactions with her, including her collecting my English pronunciation. She will be remembered for ever. I am sad that she has left this world. I am sure she will have fun in exploring the other world.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Dorothy's family and friends during this difficult time.
I met Dorothy at our excercise classes where we had great chats before, during and after our workouts. Dorothy, other fitness participants and myself played Euchre and it was a pleasure to have Dorrothy as my partner. I remember remarking to others Dorothy's "poker face" during our games. She made the game interesting and challenging.
I enjoyed our one-on-one chats and the our laughs.
I will miss Dorothy's presence of a truly kind person and her "joie de vivre".

To Dorothy’s Family: My deepest condolences. I was stunned to learn of her passing. Dorothy and I met in 1989 when I joined Agriculture Canada‘s Food Research Institute on the Central Experimental Farm. I was in the Dairy Building and Dorothy was next door in the Horticulture (“Hort”) Building. She was so open, friendly and genuine that we soon became friends, even outside of work and well past the closing of the Research Institute. At work we would pop over to each other’s labs to have coffee, lunch or just to chat. She was kind, generous, and supportive, sharing my joys, helping me through various family crises, even letting me talk to Sarah and Emily when I thought I might try my hand at writing stories for children. We eventually lost track of each other but I was very fortunate to have known her. I can still hear her laugh and will always remember her.

Sending you much love and my deepest condolences. I'll be thinking of you all today as your celebrate Dorothy's life. This picture is from the Okovango Delta in Botswana. I met Dorothy and her 2 sisters on this trip and I will never forget the joy, fun and adventure we shared. I remember giggling with Dorothy as we shared a tent in the African bush listening to wild animals outside. What a wonderful woman she was and may the happy memories keep you warm in these sad times.

Dorothy was such a bright light. I remember thoughtful conversations with her as she retired, and we reflected together on what she would do, and how glad we both were to be passed the worries and anxiety of youth! She was faithful to herself and her dreams, and generous to everyone. Dorothy, I regret that I lost touch with you, but I will try to turn this sadness into the joy that I know you want us all to remember you for.
You are in the thoughts of myself, Doris, and Holly.

Dear Pat, Sarah, Emilie and families,
So sorry to hear about Dorothy's passing. Dorothy and I worked together for a number of years at AAFC as part of the grain quality team. She was a very important member of the group. In her last few years there, her technical contributions were essential to the development of new oat varieties for human food.
She was also a very nice person, always there to help, keeping students and visitors in happy surroundings.
My heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with you.

My deepest condolences go out to Dorthy’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.
Dorothy and I exercised together at Dovercourt and gradually got to know one another. Over walks and coffee, we exchanged photos, memories and our plans for the future. We were just beginning to enjoy a certain friendship that was destined to deepen and grow. She was in my thoughts this summer and I I was very much looking forward to catching
up with her this fall upon her return from the cottage.
Dorothy will be dearly missed but her grace, her joie de vivre and her infectious laughter will remain forever with me.

I would like to share a memory with Dorothy when she came to Brazil, back in 2016. We had a great time visiting the canyons and at my 90’s Father birthday.
She also supported my son Nikola when he went to Canada in 2010. Dorothy was a lovely and very much cared friend. My thoughts are with you Pat, the girls and the family at this moment. Let’s remember her smiling and happy. Feel hugged!

Our sincerest condolences to all of Dorothy’s family. I met Dorothy years ago through her Agriculture Canada colleagues.
She was kind, gentle and so thoughtful and full of life. She entertained our “craft group” with flair and helped us plan a trip to Africa a few years ago, having recently been there. We will miss her. She inspires me to live life to the fullest.
Unfortunately we are away on the 25th so won’t be able to express our condolences in person.
