Obituary of Joseph Edward Wattie

Joe passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at the age of 66.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife and partner of 19 years, Mary (McDonell) Wattie, and his children Nicholas (Julia), and Sarah.  Adoring Poppa Wattie to Sam and Jack. Much loved brother to John (Lise), brother-in-law to Margaret McDonell, Philip (Wendy) McDonell, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. Lifelong friend to Dave and Liz Dick, and former spouse, Diane Givogue.   

Predeceased by his parents, John Anthony and Elizabeth May Wattie, and sisters Maureen, Pearl, and Theresa.

Joe was a proud Chartered Accountant for 40 years, and dedicated Rotarian since 2005. He loved going on adventures near and far with Mary and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Joe was an avid sports fan, golfer, scotch collector, bbq chef, and reader. Above all, his thoughtful generosity, down to earth warmth, and good humour made him a dear friend to many. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for speeches, music and refreshments as we celebrate Joe's life, at the Britannia Yacht Club, 2777 Cassels Street, Ottawa, on Sunday September 22nd, beginning at 2 pm.  Donations in his memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
