With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dora Dicembre (née Ruzzi), a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left us on Monday, May 27, 2024, in Ottawa. Born on November 9, 1942, in Italy, Dora's journey was one of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Dora's early life in Italy was marked by the rich traditions and deep familial bonds of her heritage. She brought this warmth and vibrancy with her when she moved to Canada in 1962, where she built a beautiful life with her husband, the late Nicola Dicembre. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of Italian cuisine. Dora was a beacon of kindness, always ready to open her home and heart to anyone in need. Her table was a haven for family gatherings, where milestones were celebrated with delicious meals and joyous company. Dora's life was further enriched by the companionship of her beloved dog, Shadow. Always by her side, Shadow brought Dora immense happiness and contentment. Their bond was a testament to Dora's nurturing spirit and her capacity for love. Dora was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nicola Dicembre, and is survived by her devoted sons, Silvio and Roberto Dicembre, who tenderly cared for her after Nicola's passing. Dora is also reunited with her parents, Nicola Ruzzi and Maria Rosica, her inlaws Michele Dicembre and Teodora DiRosso, the late Giovanni Dicembre, the late Maria Canci (late Giovanni Canci), the late Giuseppe Dicembre (Denise Kingsbury). Her family members whom she is survived by includes her brothers, Luigi Ruzzi (Dora Petragnani), Pasquale Ruzzi (Elena Ranieri), Vittorio Ruzzi (Maria Forzin), and her inlaws Antonietta Bruno (Guerrino D’Adderio), Nicoletta Inconditi (Edmondo), Luigi Dicembre (Beatrice). Dora's life was a testament to the power of love and generosity. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those she touched.
Friends and family can pay their respects at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A service to celebrate Dora's life will be held at 1 p.m. Interment and reception to follow.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Dora not with tears, but with the same joy and warmth that she brought into our lives. Her memory will be cherished in the stories shared around family tables, the recipes passed down through generations, and the love that binds her family together. Rest in peace, dear Dora. You have left this world, but your spirit and love remain with us always.
