Obituary of Douglas Wilfred MacEwen

On May 10 at, the age of 84, Doug passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Teenage heart throb and cherished husband of 62 years to Beverly (nee Wilkens), loving father to Kim (Mike), Steve (Julia), Greg (Melanie), Susan (Bob), exceptional Pappy to 10 wonderful grand children and great-grandfather to four.  Big brother to Glenn (Eva) and Ron (Helen). Pre-deceased by his father Hilton and mother Lottie (nee Hutton).

Doug, a kind gentle quiet soul, was a true gentleman with a dry wit, a love of music, sports cars, carpentry, tools, and gadgets. An engineer and telecom expert at Bell, CP, CRTC, CTCA and Industry Canada.  Although Doug and Bev travelled extensively, their favourite destination was the cottage that he single-handedly built for his family and revelled in sharing with friends and neighbours.

To the staff at Forrest Hill for the loving care provided to Doug over the last three years, we extend our heartfelt thanks.

Doug’s family invite you to visit with them at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road on Saturday, May 18^th, 2024 from 2:00 pm until the Celebration of his life at 3:00pm.  A reception will follow.
