Sandra Sanderson

Obituary of Sandra Sanderson

Sandra ("Sandy") passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Beloved wife of 49 years to Randy;  cherished mother to "her girls" Anastasia (David), Daina (Robert), and Kristen; and doting Nonna to her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Adored sister to Debbie (Rick), Wayne (Karen) and Derrick (Tanya) and aunt to her many neices and nephews.  Born and raised in Ottawa, ON to Edward and Doreen Paul.  Sandy had a generous and fiercely loyal heart; all who knew her loved her for her spirit, compassion and thoughtfulness.  She will be forever missed by her family and her many dear friends.

Sandy lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with friends and family, tending to her beloved tulips, exploring near-by small towns, reading by the water and anxiously awaiting the arrival of her hummingbirds every spring. She loved the arts, and could often be found exploring local craft shows, even in her travels. She took up sculpting, wood burning, and was a beautiful tole painter, gifting many of her pieces to family and friends.

She lived by the motto "it's my life", which came with an approach that nothing was too insurmountable. She was a confident/sympathetic ear to many, and was known for her sage advice, and contagious smile.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have reached out with kind and loving words. We’d also like to thank the doctors and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital and Community Palliative Medicine Associates who provided her with such kind and compassionate care.
