Obituary of Bill (William) Staniland Morris
Bill Morris passed away comfortably on April 1, 2024, 2 weeks before his 90th birthday. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Dian Morris (Jackson) in December 2018; his parents Olive and Stuart Morris and siblings Beverly (Lloyd) Hargrove and Gail (John) Pritchard. His children Cathy Morris (Bob Braden), Sheri Morris (John Maddigan) and Mike Morris (Cathy Morris) grieve his loss tremendously but acknowledge that he has struggled in life since the loss of Dian. It helps ease their pain knowing that this struggle is over for their Dad. Bill leaves sister-in-law Arlene McKibbon and brother-in-law Ross Jackson (Heather); grandchildren Luke (Megan), Jodie (Mitch), Becca (Evan), Jackie (Bill) and great grandchildren Hayden, Lexi, Rylan, Max and Amelia, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill lived a full life, putting his all into his business, Morris Home Hardware, which he followed his father into, and his son Mike runs today. Bill spent many years as a member of The Rotary Club of West Ottawa, of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow and an Honorary Life Member. He was active in Parkdale United Church in Ottawa his whole life. One of his big loves was the family cottage at Calabogie where the family grew up and spent countless hours. He loved to entertain friends and family there. Bill was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bill’s family wish to thank The Courtyards on Eagleson (Ottawa) and especially Groves Park Lodge (Renfrew) where Bill lived the last 10 months, for their wonderful care of Bill.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Parkdale or Trinity-St. Andrew’s United Churches or The Renfrew & District Food Bank or Parkdale Food Centre.
