Obituary of Isabel Ann Gilman(née Forbes)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isabel Ann Gilman (née Forbes) on February 5, 2024 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. Isabel was 85 years old and is survived by her children Stephanie Gilman, Christine Gilman, and Stephen Gilman; and her grandchildren Alistair Beverley, and Parker and Bailey Therrien. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Peter Royston Gilman, her father Walter Forbes, her mother Josephine Forbes (née Saunderson), her sisters Jean Hillier and Dorothy Connell, and her granddaughter Jesse Beverley.
She lived much of her life in Canada, calling Ottawa her home for most of those years after having immigrated from Liverpool, England with her mother and sisters in the 1950s. She was a volunteer with many charitable organisations including the Manotick United Church, Meals-On-Wheels, The Miller’s Oven in Manotick, the Canadian Cancer Society, and other community organisations.
Family will receive friends at Pinecrest Remembrance Sevices (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Saturday, February 10 from 11am to 1pm. Service and interment to follow at 1pm. Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bruyere Foundation (www.bruyere.org) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca) are appreciated.
