David Garrow has been a beloved member of the McGrath family for almost 20 years when he and Lauren first became friends and eventually partners in life. David has always exhibited a fierce loyalty and protective love of family. One of my first memories of David is when he was in high school. Lauren came home one day and said there was a guy lurking on the street near our house and he made her feel uncomfortable. She must have told David because he was soon walking up and down the street looking for the guy to point him in the other direction. David was about fifteen or sixteen at the time and full of teenage bravado but it was probably a good thing he never found the guy.
David was kind to others. Trevor is our quiet son, always in the background on family occasions. One time we rented a cottage on Golden Lake and we were all out on the deck overlooking the water at night time. David had an app on his phone that you could use to tell the name of the stars you were looking at when you raised the phone up to the sky. Trevor was quite interested. David noticed and he and Trevor spent some time with the phone looking at the night sky. David was like that. He acknowledged everyone. This is certainly one of the reasons so many turned out for his ‘Celebration of Life’ service.
Animkii was born in the summer of 2019. In March of 2020 Covid hit. We all remember. It was like the world stopped turning. Sports leagues were shut down, restaurants closed. One of the things humans need the most is social contact and Covid took that away from us. We were all in our little bubbles but Liz and I were lucky. Lauren, David and Animkii lived close by and were part of our bubble. We got to see them all the time. David commented on more than one occasion how wonderful it was to have this new little life among us to concentrate on and take our minds off of the uncertainty around us. He loved Animkii so much and Lauren and subsequently Kai. He loved his little family.
He also loved his parents Don and Louise and his brothers comprising the Garrow family. David always made a point of arranging get togethers with Liz and I and Don and Louise. There was never too much time passing before we would see them again. At first it was a get together with the in-laws but we soon became friends and we are friends. For that I thank David.
When I think of David, I am left with the feeling that this intelligent, caring person had so much more to give. There’s so much left not done. His passing has left a large hole in our family. We love him and we will miss him.
With love to the Garrow family from the McGrath family

David was a dear friend and colleague, and I will miss him greatly. His jokes and pranks made we feel welcome when I first joined 7 years ago. I always enjoyed our walks and talks, first when we were both in the office, then by phone during COVID, and lately by text/phone since I've moved far away and we've both been busy with young families. His memory is a blessing. My condolences to all, and to his family especially.

I was profoundly saddened to learn that David has passed away. It is tragic that he left this world so young. He was a good-hearted and loving person, and I will miss our political discussions. Rest in peace. My condolences to his loved ones.

Dear Lauren and family, I did not know David personally but I wish I did. I am told he was a very fine person who contributed much to our community. Please accept my condolences Lauren in your time of grief and sorrow. May you find comfort in your memories, your beautiful children who carry their father's spirit, and in the warmth and caring of our WHC community. Sincerely Cristin Schmitz
