Obituary of Beverley Elizabeth Saunders (neé Joynt)
With many caring visits from loved ones, Bev passed away peacefully after a very brief illness. Lifelong sweetheart, treasured companion, and beloved wife of (Robert) Alex Saunders for 72 years. Loving mother of Alex Jr. (Judy), Julia, Tim (Janice), and Sheila. Proud grandmother of eleven in order of birth: Aila, Gabriel, Dana (Simon), James (Jenna), Anjali, Andrea (Jeremy), Adam (Shana), Loreena, Paige, Grace, and Faith. Great grandmother to Otis, Nora, Ada, Charlie, Van, and Avery. Dear sister of Elaine (Bill) and Barry (Carmen), sister-in-law of Jane and Mary, and predeceased by dear brother Don. Loving daughter of the late Cecil and Inez Joynt. Caring aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a wonderful friend to many over her long and happy life.
As a military wife, Bev set up loving family homes in many different locations before a final move ‘home’ to Ottawa, where she enjoyed years as a Customer Service Representative for Sears Canada and Bell Canada. Upon retirement, the ensuing decades allowed her creative talents to flourish as she became a prolific and accomplished artisan and artist in many media, including: tole painting, pottery, stained glass, miniatures, and oil painting. Many family and friends will always treasure the countless beautiful works she created and shared generously.
Special thanks to Reverend Heather Kinkaid for officiating at Bev’s service(s), and to Inez Quinn and the staff at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their gentle end of life care.
