Obituary of Robert Hamblin
Bob passed on to his next adventure December 13, 2023, at the wonderful age of 98. Born and raised in Biggar Saskatchewan, Bob was the incredibly devoted son of Claira and Horace Hamblin. Bob bids a loving farewell to his wife and sweetheart Joan Hamblin (Graburn) with his trademark wink and a kiss.
Bob leaves special memories for his immediate family, Susan Dubreuil (James Cross), Michael Dubreuil (Sabrina Christie), Steven Dubreuil (Gretchen), Debora Dubreuil (Barry Finn) and David Dubreuil.
He will be fondly remembered by his 5 grandchildren: Daniel and Bryanna Dubreuil, Kyle Boudreau, Victoria Caldwell and Adrian Finn and his great grandchild Benjamin Jones.
We will honour his military, public and volunteer service and his life-long devotion to "Mother and Dad". Bob will keep family smiling when thinking of his love of travel and cruising with his sweetheart Joan, playing hockey into his 80s, bartending at family gatherings, his adoration of anything "Cadillac", and inciting lively political debate at family gatherings. Bob and Joan enjoyed many years of travel to annual Snoopy Hockey tournaments in California. Bob's "tailgate" bar was a gathering place for teammates and competitors alike. His lifelong love of hockey makes it quite probable that he is on the ice right now breaking in a new pair of Bauers.
Family is grateful to the caregivers at St. Patrick's Residence, Donegal unit, for their professionalism, kindness, and compassion. Our condolences to the caregivers and volunteers who have such fond memories of their time caring for Bob.
Bob will rest at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa. There will be no public visitation or service.
