Obituary of Ignatius Manso
With an extremely heavy heart, we announce the passing of Ignatius “Cholo” Manso on December 6, 2023. Cholo peacefully passed away at the Ottawa Civic Heart Institute with his family at his side.
Born May 17th, 1963, in Montreal, Quebec, the son of Pamela Forward and the late Julio Manso. Cholo was the devoted partner to Nora McNichol, eldest brother to Maria Christina Manso, Julio Manso, and Sonia Manso. Loving father to Isabela Manso and step father to Victoria Foster and Alexandra Watson.
Cholo was a passionate soul who found joy in the simple pleasures in life. His heart belonged to Spain, where he cherished the culture, cuisine, and warmth. With Cholo’s sharp wit and storytelling, he could light up any room with laughter. The camaraderie and unity he experienced with his rugby friends became a cherished aspect of Cholo’s life, forming memories that will be held dear by those who had the honor of raising a cold one with him on the rugby field or beyond.
He leaves behind relatives in Canada, US, and Spain, along with friends, rugby teammates, and comrades from his service in the Navy. Cholo will be fondly remembered for his strength, kindness, dependability, unique sense of humour, and unconditional love.
