Obituary of John Thomas Horatio Loucks
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Thomas Horatio Loucks. John was born in Bancroft, Ontario to Laura (Good) & Hugh Loucks on June 5, 1945. He is survived by his loving wife Doris(Dewar) his adored son, Tim, his much admired daughter- in- law, Stephanie (McPhee) and his 3 precious grandchildren Jack, Sam & Ellie. John is predeceased by his very special much loved son, Johnny. John is survived by his brother, David,(Madeleine) & his sister Margaret (Howard)Moore. He is the very special uncle to nieces & nephews & popular cousin to many.
John worked for 34 years for the Ottawa Board of Education retiring in 1998. In his professional career he taught Jr. Grades & Intermediate History & Geography at Vincent Massey with one year at Alta Vista. At an early age, he became acting Vice Principal at R E Wilson School and then Vice Principal at W E Gowling & Queen Elizabeth P. School. John was promoted to Principal in four Public Schools over his career—Queen Mary/Overbrooke, Hopewell, D R Kennedy & First Avenue Public School. One year he was secunded to be coordinator for special education in 4 school boards in the city of Ottawa.
In retirement John enjoyed his Classic 1951 Shepherd Boat, travelling with Doris (Bahamas) or long Sunday drives and with long time friends, anywhere they wanted to go. A passion for working in his garden, doing stone work and gardening kept him busy. His woodworking skills are shown in every room of his house. Golf was his favourite sport whether with his Whacker friends or with other couples.
People said that he had friends wherever he went.
Heartfelt thanks to the people who made John’s journey as comfortable as they could. Dr Hanif Charania, nurses Allison, Carol, Jennifer, John, friend, Marion Rattray & our kind, caring daughter-in-law Stephanie. Tim has also worked tirelessly to make his Dad’s funeral what he knew his Dad would want.

Family will receive friends Tuesday December 5th from 10:00 am until the time of the Service at 11:00 am in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Rd., Ottawa). Reception will follow at Pinecrest, where food and refreshments will be served.
