Obituary of Arthur James "Jim" Keay
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Arthur James (Jim) Keay on November 27, 2023. Born on May 21, 1947 to James and Evelyn Keay. Jim and his wife Johnette moved to Ottawa from Toronto shortly after getting married and started their family. Starting in the grocery business as a teen, Jim worked tirelessly through his life along with his wife to build a successful business in the automotive industry. Opening Jim Keay Lincoln Mercury in 1982 Jim was proud to expand the dealership to include Dupuis Ford Lincoln and was overjoyed to have his son and daughter join the family business with him. He took great pride in the staff at both dealerships. Jim was a family man first and foremost and while he worked endless hours to provide a wonderful life for his family he also made sure to be at every sporting event and dance recital for his children. His love for family grew when his beloved granddaughters arrived. Everything he did was for the happiness and joy of his family. He loved nothing more than to be at the cottage with the entire family enjoying the lake and being behind the wheel of a boat. Jim loved anything with a motor and made us all proud, and a bit nervous, when at 50 he decided to try his hand at stock car racing at Capital City Speedway earning Rookie of the year. His love of cars and love of family was evident in all he did in his life as well as his sense of humour even if it was "Grampa" humour. He was well known to colour match his outfits to his sunglasses and watches and found great enjoyment in his Lego building hobby in his later years. He will be missed terribly by his wife Johnette (nee Sinclair) of 55 years, son Jason (Mishka), daughter Lori (Chris), granddaughters Stella, Ruby, Lily and Evelyn, brother Ron (Judy) as well as the much loved extended Sinclair family. As per his wishes there will be no funeral. If you wish to make a charitable donation on behalf of Jim, CHEO and The Salvation Army were near and dear to his heart.
