Kyriakos Nikolakakos

Obituary of Kyriakos Nikolakakos

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kyriakos Nikolakakos, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

Beloved husband of Stavroula (née Tsagaris). Loving father of Peter (Maria) and Nick (Laura Jane). Cherished grandfather of Sophia, Kyriakos and Leo.

Predeceased by his parents Panagiotis Nikolakakos and Ageliki (née Zourntos) and brother Nick Nikolakakos.  Kyriakos is survived by his brother Anthony Nikolakakos.

Born in Pakia, Lakonia, Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1958  cutting his teeth in the Toronto restaurant industry before moving to Ottawa in 1973.

He found tremendous happiness spending summers in Greece accompanied by his wife of 55 years. Partaking in the local festivals, wines and cuisine with friends and family brought him joy.

Those that got to know him described him as a sweet man who enjoyed making people laugh. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy and had more of an impact in people’s lives than he ever realized or could ever know. Although we are saddened at the thought of life without him we know his spirit carries on and he is forever in our hearts.

Family and friends will be received at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1315 Prince of Wales Drive, on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 11:00 am until time of Funeral Service on Monday at 12:00 pm.  Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road.
