Obituary of Lynda Frances MacLellan
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynda Frances MacLellan (née Mersereau), who left us suddenly but not unexpectedly on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in the peace and comfort of her own home.
Born into a world that would be forever changed by her generosity and passion, Lynda was a beacon of kindness through creativity and love. Married to the Rev. (LCol Ret.) William “Bill” MacLellan on the romantic occasion of Valentine's Day in 1970, their journey of love and partnership spanned more than five decades, creating an enduring testament of devotion.
Lynda was a beloved mother to William "Mark" and a cherished mother-in-law to Stacey. She adored her granddaughters, Paige and Katelyn, who were the recipients of her boundless affection and her many creative endeavours. Her family was the heart of her world, and she nurtured it with care and a love that was both fierce and tender.
She is fondly remembered by her brothers Derek (Nanette) and Matthew (Janet). She is also reunited in the arms of her parents Harris and Norma of Montreal, as well as her brothers Geoffrey and Rodney, who have gone before her.
Many people, both those who had the privilege of knowing her personally and those who didn't, benefited from Lynda's extraordinary thoughtfulness. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her willingness to give, both in spirit and in kind, touched countless lives. Her legacy of benevolence will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.
Lynda was known for her passion for planning and execution, qualities that shone brightly in everything she did. Whether she was planning an event or sewing for her loved ones and friends, her commitment to perfection and creative vision were evident. Her passion extended beyond the necessities, transforming every task into a labor of love and making every event a memorable occasion.
Lynda was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and generosity. In her passing, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to touch lives and inspire kindness and creativity. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Westminster Memorial Fund or Portland Place through Evangel Hall in Lynda's name, honouring her lifetime dedication to helping others.
