Obituary of Patricia Hartmann

It is with great sadness that we announce Patricia (Pat) Anne Hartmann (nee Parish), 72, passed away peacefully at home on June 6th, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Pat was born on December 21st, 1950 to Reginald and Constance Parish in Rabat, Malta. She leaves behind her dear husband of 50 years, August (Gus) Hartmann, and her sister Jackie Parish (Steve Leppard). Beloved mother of David Hartmann (Rowan) and Michael Hartmann. She also leaves behind her much loved grandchildren, Dagan, Cassidy, Winnie and Andy. Patricia was predeceased by her parents (Connie and Reg), and her sister, Debbie Embry (Buz)

Pat spent the first years of her life in the UK, moving with her Navy dad and family. They moved to Canada during her childhood, and after travelling the country, eventually settled down in Ottawa. It is there she met her future husband at Bell High school. After graduating from Bell, she went on to study at the Ottawa Civic Hospital school of nursing, graduating in the top 3 of her the class of 1971, specializing in pediatrics. She went on to a very successful and satisfying career, first at the Civic, then transferring to the new CHEO when it opened. She went on to work in private practice for pediatrician Dr. Arnold Faught for many years until his retirement. At that time she returned to CHEO where she worked until her retirement in 2014.

After retiring, Pat spent her time travelling, gardening, cheering on the Senators, as well as indulging in her hobbies like scrapbooking and needlepoint, and of course, spoiling her 4 grandchildren as much as possible.

She will be greatly missed by all of her family, and her dear friends of many years, Gloria, Anne, Jan and Sarah.

At her request, there will be no funeral service, but at a later date to be determined, a family celebration of her life will take place. For those considering a charitable donation in her name, the CHEO foundation would be welcomed.
