Obituary of Deborah Louise Makila
(Truly, Madly, Deeply)
After a lengthy illness, Debbi passed away on June 16, 2023, at the age of 63. Debbi never lost that feisty sparkle in her eyes, nor the beautiful smile that she was famous for among all who knew her.
Debbi is survived by her sister Nancy and brothers, Brian (Johanne Jacob) and Allan (Rebecca), as well as her aunt, Sheila Johnson (née MacGregor) and cousins. Her immeasurable kindness and generosity of spirit will be greatly missed by many friends deeply saddened by her passing.
During her career Debbi worked with iconic Canadian organizations including the National Ballet of Canada, Controlled Media Communications (SkyDome and the Toronto Blue Jays), and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Debbi’s family extends thanks for the compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses of The Ottawa Hospital, Irving Greenberg Cancer Centre, and Saint Elizabeth Health Care.
A celebration of life for both Debbi and her mother Juanita will be held at the Pinecrest Reception Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 2:00 P.M to 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MS Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
