Obituary of Marjory Elizabeth Arthur

August 7th, 1925 - June 16th, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Marjory, a remarkable sister and aunt extraordinaire. Marjory, affectionately known as Marge, was born at home in Verdun, QC. A caring, loving, and selfless individual, she dedicated her life to bringing joy to everyone around her.

Marge grew up in Park Extension, Montreal, where she resided and lovingly cared for her aging parents until their passing. After retiring from Canadian Refractories, she embarked on a new chapter in Ottawa, where she lived alongside her sister Jean in a condo they purchased together. Marge was an active member of her church community and readily volunteered whenever someone needed assistance. She immersed herself in craft groups, bridge games, and sing-a-longs, always eager to connect with others. Every Christmas, Marge would don an old Santa Claus suit and embody the spirit of the festivities, becoming the life of the party. She also enjoyed trips to the "slots" and engaging in lively games of bingo.

Marge was predeceased by her beloved sister, Jean, and her cherished niece, Donna. Marjory will be profoundly missed by her sister Grace (Hugh), nephews Scott, Ian (Tracy), and Dave (Sherry), as well as her nephew-in-law Mike. Additionally, she leaves behind great-nieces and nephews: Nikki, Alex, Michael, Brian (Jacqueline), Jonathan (Heather), Rhys and Allison, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews Alistair, Evie, Logan, and Jamie.

As Marge got older, she knew she could rely on the people around her. We sincerely thank Grace, Hugh, Scott, Dave, Sherry and Mike for their generosity and unwavering support.

Surrounded by family, Marge was laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery on June 20th, 2023. A Celebration of her Life is being planned for August 2023, where family and friends can gather, reminisce, and share heartwarming stories of how Marge touched their lives. Marge leaves a profound legacy of joy and happiness that will forever resonate in the hearts of all she touched.
