Obituary of Nancy Savage Haines
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of the love of our lives, Nancy Savage Haines, on Sunday, June 25th 2023.
Nancy was born in Montreal, Quebec, and had spent the last 36 years living in Ottawa, with several years in between in Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.
She was the devoted wife of Brad Haines, mother to Cheryl Haines and Jenn (Corey) Grinnell, and beloved grandma to Keaton, Brady, Logan and Piper. We would be remiss not to mention the fondness and dedication that she had for the numerous four-legged family members that she had throughout her life: Tuffy, Jessie, Rascal, Mickey, Bailey, Maggie, Jack and Rosie, all of whom greeted her when she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Mikey and Krissy will miss their mom dearly.
She is predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and John Savage. She will be fondly remembered by her three siblings, and countless cousins, second-cousins, nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and around the world
A lover of archaeology, genealogy, history, animals, travel (especially to Ireland!), warm cups of tea and freshly baked scones, the roles Nancy held for her family were her most important. She was so proud of her children and their accomplishments, and especially of her grandchildren. She revelled in spoiling them with toys, books, knitted blankets, "Grandma's flower cookies" and, most importantly, her time, warmth and attention.
Patient and kind, open-hearted, interested and earnest, Nancy will be so dearly missed. She has left us too soon, but with us she will always remain. She lives on in our memories, and will be continually felt through the wind, sunshine, night-time thunderstorms and in nature's beauty.
The family would like to thank the incredible team at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, particularly the medical staff in the emergency and ICU units.
You are invited to pay your respects at Highland Park Cemetery, at 2037 McGee Side Road in Carp Ontario, on Monday, July 3th from 3:00-5:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm, and at her Celebration of Life on Tuesday, July 4th at 11:00 am.
