Obituary of Ruth "Alayne" Chalmers
A Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Alayne was a loving, strong woman who embraced life and faced challenges with confidence. She was a devoted Mother to her children Brian, Gregg, Lindsay, and Keith. Alayne was a well-read, talented, artistic woman who shared her skills within the many communities she lived in. Born and raised in Ottawa, ON, Alayne married Ronald J. Chalmers. From Ottawa, the young family moved to a country house in Middleville until Ron's career relocated the family further afoot to Toronto and finally to Woodstock, ON.Alayne was employed at the Woodstock General Hospital as the Secretary to the Dietician and Food Services Department for 15-years. Later, life's path would take Alayne to Merida, Mexico where she resided for more than six years. Alayne made many friends in Merida and spoke often of the joy of this special place and time. Returning to Ottawa, ON at age 75 to live out her retirement, Alayne ultimately found her last residence outside Guelph ON, at Morriston Park Long-term Care Home where she passed away.
Alayne will be sorely missed by her brothers Kenneth and Keith Sharland and their families, her children, grand-children Michael, David, Cameron and Lauren and great-grandchildren Ivy, Rowan and Jack.
A private ceremony will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa ON, where Alayne will enter eternal rest alongside her beloved Grandfather
