Obituary of Margaret MacQueen

September 25 1926 – June 6, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Friend, Margaret (nee MacPhee) who left us June 6, 2023, at the age of 96 years.

Dear wife of the Late Kenneth Fraser MacQueen. Loving mother to Glenn (JoAnne), Carol (Robert), and her late son Kenneth (Nancy). Grandmother to Alexandra, Ryan, Hannah and Sasha. Predeceased by her father, Alexander William “Alec Willie” her mother Margaret Maggie, sister Janet, and brothers D.A. and Ewan MacPhee.

Mom grew up in Lochiel-Glengarry and was very proud of her Scottish heritage. At age 16, she moved to Ottawa, worked for the bank of Canada and married dad. She then went to work for the Canadian Government and raised her family.

Mom was able to live in her home for 64 years, with great help from family, friends, community support and neighbors. She will be very missed by all.

Friends are invited to a service at the Woodroffe United Church held on Thursday, June 22, at 11:00 am.

The family wishes to thank Bearbook Retirement and the Ottawa Hospital for all their amazing care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa West Community Support program would be greatly appreciated.
