Obituary of Janice Frizell

Janice Lynn Frizell (nee Kinkaid) passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 after a long and valiant battle with Cancer. She was surrounded by Carl, her loving husband of 52 years and a few close friends. Their love for each other was evident to all- they were a perfect match. They shared many Interests including cottaging, music, good food, a good laugh, and the importance of family. Their love story was a timeless classic.

Janice was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on October 7, 1950. She was predeceased by her parents, Russ and Shirley Kinkaid and her twin sister, Jennifer. Janice will be remembered fondly by her brother, David (Julie) and her sister-in-law (Bev)and their chosen daughter, Jamey-Lee. Janice’s extended family includes Lorna and David Bickerton, her Godchildren, Kathy (Dwaine), Michael and Matthew (Sam).  She was a proud Aunt (Great Aunt) to many special nieces and nephews across the country. To know Janice was to love her. She will be deeply missed not only by her family but also her friends.

Janice lived a full life and made many friends. She was a tireless advocate for women’s rights and public health issues. She was particularly proud of her involvement in the establishment of Interval House. Never one to back away from a good debate, she would engage anyone in issues she was interested in or that she was passionate about. Janice loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews playing the kazoo, painting, making cards, and singing. Time was not an issue for her during these special moments.

Janice and Carl were blessed to have friends in their fellowships that supported and celebrated life with them. They also have a special thank you to the MAiD Team and the staff they met at the Ottawa Hospital for their compassion and support.

A Celebration of Janice’s life will be held at the Pinecrest Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 starting at 2 PM. A reception will follow.
