Obituary of Susan Allen
Susan Ann Allen (nee Schneider) of Ottawa passed away peacefully in her home on Monday June 5th, 2023. Sue had a strong identity as a child of God. She knew the voice of Jesus and He knew hers.
Sue was born in Daysland Alberta and grew up on her family farm. Sue was active in agricultural and community life. She attended Red Deer College where she met and fell in love with her husband Rob. She then obtained her diploma in Recreation therapy from Lethbridge college and went on to work in the Glenrose Rehab Hospital in Edmonton and the Bruyère briefly in Ottawa.
Sue and Rob were blessed with two wonderful children Daniel and Haesel, and her life quickly shifted to the joys of motherhood. She relished being “Mom” and spent her time mothering, guiding, and nurturing her kids. She takes great pride in the adults that they have become. Sue was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1995 and had battled the disease for many years. She enjoyed travel and had completed a 4H prize trip to the Northwest Territories, an agricultural exchange to Australia and a Caribbean cruise in addition to travels into the United States.
She also was an avid baseball fan, and both cheered and jeered her Jays. Late in life, Sue announced that she was a Leafs fan to the bewilderment of her family.
Sue is predeceased by her mother Shirley (2019), and Father Joe (2021). She is survived by her husband Rob, son Daniel (Shaunae), and daughter Haesel. She is the oldest sister to Penney (Mark) Schultz, Anita Sorenson, Sharon (Rick) Adloff, and Wendy (Daymion) Weiss. She is also survived by various nieces and nephews – Caitlin, Chelsea, Darian, Makenzie, Connor, Keelor, Sasha, Wells, Noah, Lucas, Jonah, Kayden, and Arabella. Thanks to Nancy and Leyna for the wonderful care that she has received through the months and years. Sue was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Pinecrest Reception Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Haesel's MS Bike Tour in Memory of Sue, or to the Spiritual Motherhood of Priests - 107 Passageway Private, Kanata, Ontario
