I was so shocked by this news. I had shared office space in the Annex of the Sir John Carling Building with Jill and another colleague, Marg Burwell. The three of us spent many hours together during that time and I always enjoyed Jill’s perspective on such important topics as hand washing and air drying dishes or microwaving food in open concept offices, as well as hearing about her travels to visit Coronation Street. She had a wonderful sense of humour. Jill, Marg and I continued to meet for lunch from time to time after our subsequent retirements and she was a regular at our AAFC Alumni lunches. We will certainly miss her. My condolences go out to Jackie, of whom she spoke often, and to all her family.

Jackie, Jim and all of Jill’s family,
So terribly sorry for your loss. I worked will Jill for many years and cared for her very much. She was such a smart, caring, funny person. It did not matter what we we started talking about, be it work, weather or anything else the conversation generally ended up talking about food!! So many great memories but a few come to mind. Impossible pie, which I had never heard of to Jill’s surprise, so she brought me a recipe and to this day I still make it! Another memory was during the summer when the tomatoes were local and she would describe her tomato sandwich which would consist of fresh squishy white bread and of course a tomato that would be so big you only needed one slice to make it then adding salt, pepper and of course mayo! A simple tomato sandwich yet you would be salivating with her description. She invited me to travel with her to the UK and unfortunately it did not work out, I do wish I could have joined her. She will be missed and many wonderful memories of her will last forever. RIP my friend. Virginia Cassidy

Jill and I worked together for a number of years and she was a lot of fun to work with. She was always in a good mood and quick with a joke or two, but when it came to getting things done, she was very good at that too. My condolences to her family and all who knew her well. She will surely be missed.

Jill was an amazing woman. I worked with her in the late 70’s. What I’ll never forget was her beautiful radiant smile, and her ability to keep the same amaryllis bulb blooming year after year.
