Obituary of Greta Irene McNeice
September 6, 1941 - May 7, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Greta Irene McNeice (nee Dixon), loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Greta is predeceased by her loving husband Donald Galbraith McNeice (November 13, 2022) and her eldest daughter Donna Jean Reynolds (April 30, 2021) and is survived by her children Laurie McNeice, Gary McNeice and John McNeice, her sister Berdina Jarrett and by her 9 grandchildren Jasmine, Jesse, Justine, Jake, James, William, Katherine, Haley and Jade.
Greta, as did her husband Don, spent much time caring and helping those in her family, which started at a very young age and continued on throughout her life. She was an avid needleworker, knitter and crossworder. But, most of all, Greta loved and was interested in people. She kept in touch with close friends and family over the years and was not averse to starting up conversations with complete strangers, which surely created rich memories in many lives. In 1985 Greta started a successful career as a real estate agent with Rhodes and Company (now Coldwell Banker Rhodes & Company) and was soon after joined by her husband and partner, retired teacher Don, until their retirement in 1999. In 1998, Greta and Don moved from Beacon Hill to Kanata to be closer to their eldest daughter Donna and her 4 children and created beautiful family memories by devoting herself to being a loving grandmother and wife. Later in life, Greta and Don’s challenges became many with Greta’s onset of Alzheimer’s.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Granite Ridge for their wonderful care of Greta for the last two years and to the people at Kanata United Church for their continued visits during her time at Granite Ridge.
Details for Greta’s celebration of life will be announced shortly.
