Obituary of Konstantine Nantsios
It’s with great sadness that the family announces the death of Konstantine Nantsios on Friday, April 14th, 2023 at the age of 91 after a brief illness. Konstantine passed away peacefully with his two children and their respective spouses at his side.
Born in Vogatsiko, Greece on December 5, 1931 as the eldest son to Nikolaos and Ekaterini Nantsios (nee Karakasis). Konstantine was predeceased by his sister Malamatia (Matoula) and his brothers Alexandre and Thanasis. He is survived by his son Nickolas (Carole), his daughter Katherina (Ian), his sisters-in-law Stavroula (Alexandre) and Chrissoula (Athanasis), numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Konstantine immigrated to Canada in 1950 at the age of 18 with his brother Alexandre and two years later younger brother Thanasis joined them. He worked as a mechanic at first, owning his own garage before changing careers to work alongside his brothers in the restaurant business. He was first a manager at the El Toro and subsequently a part owner of the Alexis Restaurant.
The three brothers were a force to be reckoned with, as each brought their own special skills to make their business ventures successful. Konstantine’s special strength was that he was a Mr. Fixit – if something broke, he was usually the one who fixed it.
When not at work at the restaurants, he spent his time building or refinishing three of the homes he lived in, along with wife Renate. After his retirement until recently he dabbled in woodworking and wood burning, always keeping himself busy.
Visitation will be held at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1315 Prince of Wales Dr on Thursday, April 20th from 10:30 A.M. until time of the services at 11:30 A.M. Interment and reception will follow at the Pinecrest Cemetery.
