Obituary of Donna Kemeny
With sadden hearts we say farwell to Donna Kemeny (nee Sloan).
Daughter of Thomas and Jean Sloan (nee Cabana). Survived by brother Doug & Penny Sloan and their children Krista Lee and Shawn Patrick; brother Keith Sloan and his children Barry and Sherry; and sister Carol Malcolm and daughter Melissa.
Donna was born September 13th, 1952 (turned 13 on Friday 13th.) She came into the world as a premi infant and was taken back to the farm in Vinton wearing dolls clothes. The nickname Barbie doll stayed with her for life, as well deserved. The family moved from the farm to the big town of Campbell's Bay when Donna was about 6 years old. In the early sixties we moved to the city of Ottawa.
Donna attended Rideau high school and focused on commercial courses. This lead her to engage in a variety of administrative positions. As a teenager Donna would sit on the banks of Sawmill Creek and write amazing poetry ... she was always elegant in signing cards and for a southpaw had the most beautiful handwriting!
Donna was married twice and widowed once before she met her lifelong partner, Keith Taylor, and had 27 years together before his passing. She very much enjoyed the outings with Keith involving the Naval Weapons Association and all the friends she made.
Donna enjoyed people. She had an engaging personality that reached out to many. To quote her, "talking to people is how we learn!"
Donna very much enjoyed entertaining and was well known for putting a beautiful table and dinner together.
Donna loved all her cats over the years but Mr. Bubbles who was named after the Trailer Park Boys show was her # 1 cat and he is now 17 years old and missing his mom.
Donna's life was plagued with many challenges and health issues. She had alot of fight in her but on February 25, 2023 she slipped away.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the ICU staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their tremendous efforts to help Donna in her time of need.
There just aren't enough words of praise, thanks & gratitude to Ross and Carrie Raymond for many years of helping and watching out for Donna's well being.
Donna will be honored with a gathering at her house in the spring. Date yet to be determined.
The Bridge of Faith
by Sherri Bradley Neal
A still small voice is calling
Beyond the bridge of faith
Inviting all to enter
A holy, secret place
Sickness falls behind the stride
Of those who hear the call
To walk in light forever
Where no darkness comes at all
The bridge of faith gives entrance
To serenity abode
And rest to all who journey
By faith along life's road
Please feel free to share memories and photos you have of Donna.
