I just received an email from an Ottawa friend that Neil had passed away. My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends. He was always so ready to show us his latest and proudest videos of his little daughter and such a smile from ear to ear! Neil was the best friend in times of trouble and joy; Neil was right by your side in a moment's notice. My late husband Mike valued Neil's friendship in a very special way and he would have been devastated to hear of his passing. Perhaps "the other side" will provide endless discussion on football life and stats between the two of them! Neil was also a great help to Mike's Mom during Covid with his ever-ready "I'm here to help" attitude, delivering groceries etc, when she needed something, decked out in his blue ski jacket and hockey gloves, totally masked up and standing a distance down the hallway after he rang the bell. And all deliveries were accomplished on his bicycle, no matter what the weather was... He will be missed in this life and my his memory be a blessing.

My sincere condolences, and deepest sympathies goes out to all of Neil's family members, his children, and every single friend of his. We knew each other for nearly 40 years, and was one of my dearest & best friends a man could ever have. I last saw him for about 10 minutes the evening he suddenly passed away, and was in great spirits. When we parted ways, as always we hugged, and the last thing we said to each other was "I love you brother". I honestly feel I've lost not just a best friend, but a family member, and was like the brother I never had.
He will be truly missed, and his soul & spirit will forever live in my heart.
May God bless his soul, and may he rest in peace.
See you on the other side brother,
Peace & Love
