Obituary of Douglas Crotteau
It is with a sense of great loss that we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful family man and limitless educator, on September 7 at the nice age of 93 years.
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
Predeceased in 1984 by his beloved wife, Margaret, we are happy they are joined together again. Doug was a devoted, inspirational, and adored father to Kevin (Maureen) and Susan (Andrew), and a terrific “Grampy” to his grandchildren, Maggie (Steve), Patrick, Adam (Jamie-Lee), Katie, Drew and James as well as his great-grandkids Greyson, Veda, Evy, Addie and Jameson. He was also blessed to enjoy a wonderful and fulfilling life with Marguerite Larson for the past 25 years as his best friend and companion.
We all will treasure memories of our "Grampy" for his wisdom, love for his family, wonderful sense of humour and being a great participant in all life had to offer. Doug held a special place in everyone's heart as he had a way of making you smile with his “unbiased” opinions. All whom loved him dearly will never forget his teachings, discerning charm, and zest to explore new trends.
We wish to express our deep appreciation to the exceptional and caring staff at Orchard View by the Mississippi for all their efforts in making his final years safe and joyful. A short service followed by the internment will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on Saturday, October 15 at 2 pm. Grampy’s 'Celebration of Life' will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, Doug requested that you take a loved one out to dinner to share memories and a laugh.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day; Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.
