Dear Don and Family: Although my Wife Polly and I were away from Bethel for many years, we kept in touch with our Bethel Family. Whenever we were filled in on what was going on at the church, more often than not, Don and Betty's names would come up as integral parts of the various volunteer teams... spreading Jesus' love and making strangers feel part of God's family. Betty was a tireless prayer warrior and active participant in so many activities bringing joy and comfort to so many. My brother worked in the same department as Don before retiring many years ago... he spoke often of Don's kindness... Betty and Don were truly a complete team wherever they went.... Jesus, Betty and Don! Many prayers and kind thoughts to Don and the rest of the family.... the world is a better place for having Betty in it. One day we will enjoy Heaven together! I know many will continue to lift up your entire family in the days to come.

Dear Don and Family;
WE are so sorry to see you have lost your beloved Betty. Please accept our sincere condolences and know we are praying for each of you.
Betty was loved by many for her kind, loving and humorous ways. Always willing to help whenever and wherever she was called. She was a tireless loyal servant of God. We shared in many joint activities together., Small groups, prayer groups, church dinners, nursing home ministry and rising to the challenges and opportunities of spreading the Gospel of Jesus and His Love.
She will be sorely missed indeed! RIP Betty.

Betty’s charming wit, delightful sense of humour, sensitivity and kindness are some of
her most wonderful qualities that we had the opportunity of experiencing, as we thoroughly enjoyed being with her and Don when our Dear Friends Janis
and Jerry invited us to join them on those most joyous occasions.
We’re very thankful for those Memorable Moments of Fun and Laughter,
while creating Most Savoured Memories together!
With Much Sympathy,

Betty was my mother-in-law for 25 years. I am Sandra’s spouse and we live in Victoria, so my relationship with Betty was mostly at a distance. Betty didn’t let that stop her. She made distinct efforts to remember my birthday, to send letters and cards, a handmade tree ornament, quirky advice, a joke or a photograph. And when we had opportunities to be together she welcomed me at her huge table, gave me a big hug, introduced me to her extensive Nova Scotia family at her and Don’s 50 wedding anniversary, and offered me some of her latest recipes. She was always game to try a different culinary endeavor, unafraid to experiment with a new recipe on a dozen guests. She had more bravery than I in the kitchen. She’d whip up a batch of biscuits in her toaster oven – ready to pile them high with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. That was your entire meal. I could hardly believe it! I am grateful for the recipes of her welsh cakes, green bean pesto salad, and grilled lemon chicken. I only wish I’d learned to make her famous doughnuts, freckled with nutmeg – many of us know they’re just as delicious frozen as fresh. I know she nurtured others in many other kitchen contexts beside her own – feeding her community, church members, women’s groups, bridge club members, neighbors, neighbors’ friends, family, families’ friends, strangers. Betty’s open door was directly linked to her kitchen – where we all know the heart is. May she rest in peace.
My condolences to all who have lost this friend and family member,
Glo Kelly

Betty and I have been friends since we played ladies baseball in Crestview when our children were a very young age. We played for the Crestview Goofer's, a low competitive team that just wanted to have fun. I still have my T-Shirt. Then I reunited with Betty when I started attending Bethel Pentecostal Church very long ago. I volunteered with Betty and Don at Bethel when they were leading a church service at a seniors' nursing home. My husband Walter and I also attended Bethel's senior's luncheons where Betty volunteered. We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to her family during this challenging and sad time.

Every Christmas, for many years, Betty would crochet an ornament for each of her friends. We have a small Christmas tree wall decoration that we have been displaying the many creations that Betty gave us. Friends and family look forward to seeing it each Christmas. We remember Betty’s talent and how happy she was. I loved talking to her when she was at my house on July 27, with our group of nine reunion. Susan and David Goold

When I think of Betty, I think of a servant leader with an endless smile. What a gracious and faith filled woman she was. Thankful for her example. I’m certain she is dancing and singing in His presence.

Betty was an amazing woman and our family was privileged to have her in our lives. She and Don were honorary grandparents
to our sons, Scott & Jaydon. They had Jaydon to their home numerous times for meals and games. Jaydon remembers those times dearly. Betty always encouraged our boys in their activities and their faith. Betty shared a birthday with Scott and Don shares a birthday with Jaydon.
We will remember Betty, who always enjoyed a good laugh at her own expense. She brought joy and laughter to so many, especially when she was at Women of Faith Conferences and serving in the community.
We remember serving Christmas dinner at Caldwell Community Centre with Don and Betty. A lady there told Betty she loved her Christmas sweater. Betty took it off and gave it to her right then. That was the person Betty was...always was generous, cheerful, funny and positive even when facing life's challenges.
We love you Miss Betty! Until we meet again....
Love Joan, Don, Scott & Jaydon Hoskins

We shared many outings together and celebrated each other birthdays over many years. Betty’s legendary poems and skits were always so much fun.
