Obituary of Linda Tompkins
Linda left us surrounded by loved ones at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, on 23 Aug, 2022.
She is survived by her husband Bob Tompkins, whom she married in 1973, her children, Matthew and Shannon (Matthew Annable) and two grandchildren, Kyle and Tianna. Linda was born in Winnipeg to Dan and Claire Eno and later moved to Nepean as a toddler. She grew up in Nepean and attended Bell High School and Algonquin college. She had several jobs in her early life, her fondest memories being her time at the Rideau Canal system. When the children arrived, Linda stayed home to raise them and participated in many aspects of their lives.
She participated in many activities including school field trips. When Matt and Shannon were teens, she invested large amounts of time getting to know their friends, keeping in the loop with what was going on and became a “second mom” several times.
Linda struggled with a variety of health issues her entire life which limited her ability to participate in activities as she grew older. Despite this, she stayed involved with her kids and grandkids in variety of ways. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
When she was finally diagnosed with leukemia, Linda was determined to go out on her own terms, and she did. She spent one night in the QCH ER before leaving us
We would like to thank everyone involved in her care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or The Humane Society are welcome.
Friends are invited to Celebrate Linda’s life at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, on Thursday September 1, 2022 from 1-3pm, with words of remembrance at 2:30pm.
