Stavroula Youldassis (nee Vouriotis), age 84, passed away peacefully July 11, 2022, at the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in Kanata, Ontario.
Born August 7, 1937 in Anavrito, Megalopolis in the Arcadia region, she was predeceased by her parents Kostantina Sarlas, Vasili Vouriotis and brothers Nikolas, Dimitri, George and Kostantinos.
Stavroula immigrated to Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1972 and worked as a seamstress. Later on, she relocated in the Hull/Ottawa region where she worked for many years for the late Jim Pezoulas at Jacques Cartier Restaurant as a cook.
Stavroula had a heart of gold. She loved to garden, knit, walk, and shop, watch her favorite Greek soap operas and loved to chat on the phone with her friends. Most importantly she loved to cook, and made the best ever meatballs and French fries. During the last fifteen years, she spent half of the year in Phoenix, Arizona staying with her son, Jim and his family and the other half in Canada where she lived with her daughter, Dina and her family.
Stavroula leaves behind her son Jim Youldassis (wife Sylvie Oremush), daughter Constantina-Dina Youldassis (husband Mike Palazzolo) and her five beautiful grandchildren that she deeply loved; Chanel-Voula Barnes, Stephanie Youldassis, William Youldassis, Tyson Barnes, Santino Palazzolo and George her son’s cavalier king Charles spaniel; the family dog.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive). Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. followed by interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made in the memory of Stavroula Youldassis to either the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church or to Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in Kanata. In the Donation Note, please indicate “In memory of Stavroula Youldassis.”
