It saddened me greatly when I saw that Barb Lajeunesse died. We go a way back to our days in Ottawa & Glebe Collegiate when Barbara & Moe were around. She was a marvellous very friendly person, loved by all . Always got a smile & welcome when you would meet her accidentally& she always made you feel you were the most important person around!
Am so sorry & send my deepest sympathy to all the family for their deep loss of this wonderful woman. A great couple with wonderful personalities & lots of fun, that have gone from us far too soon.

My condolences to Michele and Jon and your children for the loss of Barbara. She was quite the woman. I had the pleasure of knowing Barbara, both in our respective volunteer capacities and as an animal lover. She was always willing to stand up for what was just and speak out against injustice. She will definitely be missed.

I first met Barb Lajeunesse in 1982, when I was preparing to run for school board trustee at the Ottawa Board of Education in Ottawa's west end. She was ED of The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre back then and editor of the West-End Flyer - our community newspaper. This began a long relationship, covering my school trustee years (surviving the closure of Sir John A. McDonald High School, which was near & dear to her heart), my eventual election to Ottawa City Council representing Richmond Ward, then to Regional Council representing Bay Ward, then to Queen's Park as MPP for Ottawa West, then as ED of the Council on Aging (which worked closely with community support agencies like The Olde Forge), then on to the amalgamated City of Ottawa Council again representing Bay Ward, from 2000 to 2010.
Barb was a caring person and a straight-shooter, and I benefitted (and enjoyed) her advice on all things community-oriented. She helped countless people through her work at The Olde Forge, and lived a full life. I will miss her laugh and her observations on the foibles of political life.

Community-based health care has lost a hero. Barb was a tireless advocate for the dignity and independence of seniors, and wasn't afraid to share her thoughts on the matter! But no matter what the topic of conversation, invariably it turned to Barb's family where her pride in, and love for each was larger than life itself. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. We were friends in public school, Mutchmor and she was a delightful friend. Barb also had another good friend who lived across the street from her, Leona Kempsey, also a very nice young person. Because I am now 85 I have no idea if any of the many school chums we all had are still with us. However, one vibrant memory of Barb (Bailey) was her collection of comic books and I have often wondered if she kept them to adulthood as she would be storing collectibles worth a fortune. The photo I have enclosed is of myself and Scooter who is 6 months old and a great little companion. I think Barb would appreciate that fact.

I am so sorry to hear of Barb's passing.
I worked closely with Barb a number of years ago when I was on the Board of Directors of Pinecrest-Queensway Community Service Center. She was a strong and dependable woman and cared deeply about the Olde Forge and the Pinecrest Community. So sorry to hear that she had to fight Leukemia, but knowing Barb, she did it with grace and style.
Deepest condolences to the family and friends.

Michele, Olivia and family. My thoughts are with you during this most difficult time. Losing a parent at any age is so very, very hard. May her memories bring warmth to your hearts and smiles to your faces. I always loved to visit with Barb when in town. Truly a wonderful and engaging woman who raised one FINE daughter and granddaughter. XOXO. Martha Lubbat and family.

What a wonderful photo of Barb!
Chel, wishing you, Liv, Jon, Steph and family sincere condolences. As I've said to you, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of your Mom is how very proud she was of her children and grandchildren - a deep love from your Mom that you will carry always.
Thoughts, prayers and love,
Christine, Steve, Jack and Dally.
