Obituary of Douglas Neil Cole
Doug passed away on February 27, 2022; he was our dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather and friend.
Doug was born and raised in Ottawa Westboro, the second oldest of the 9 siblings, his parents were Fred and Ann Cole.
Doug joined the Navy, when he returned, he joined the Ottawa Fire Dept. in 1953. Doug served in a number of stations across Ottawa. The Department was not only a job but a fellowship of lifelong friendship. Doug retired in 1989. His last post was at the Departments Training Centre where he shared his knowledge and skills to many of the men and women who served our city well.
Doug enjoyed many activities he enjoyed the outdoors, Hunting, Fishing and Curling.
Doug is predeceased by his wife Margaret, brothers Murray, Don, Fred, Frank, Ken, Guy and sister Beverly.
Doug will be missed greatly by his daughter Susan (Sullivan), Paul - son in law to Doug, he was a friend and a companion. Proud Grandpa of grand-daughter Shannon Murphy, grandson-in-law James Murphy, cherished great-grandfather of Hunter and Chase Murphy who loved their Grandpa Dougie.
He will be missed by his daughter Donna (Perin) and son-law Rob and his granddaughter Bailey.
A Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 for family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre - 2500 Baseline Rd. Ottawa, Ontario.
Reception will follow at the Royal Oak Pub - 117 Centrepointe Dr. 3:15-5:00 p.m. Let’s raise our glass one more time.
