Obituary of Efthimios Siatras

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Efthimios “Mike” Siatras who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 76. Mike is predeceased by his parents George and Aikaterini Siatras (nee Kotsikis). Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Panagiota “Pitsa” (nee Petrakos). He is loving father to George (Sylvie), Tassos and Constantine (Rachelle) and proud Pappou to Efthimios “Mike”, Thiago and Panayiota. Brother to Constantine and Lukas.  

Mike was born in Athens, Greece and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18 and settled in Ottawa where he built successful businesses in the automotive industry over a 35-year career. His partners, employees and customers will remember a man who embodied hard work and integrity above all else. His commitment to his work was matched with a dedication to serving his community over countless volunteer hours and more than 30 years in leadership positions with the local chapter of AHEPA. Mike dedicated a substantial portion of his community service to supporting young people in their pursuit of higher education.  

Mike imparted his values of devotion to family, generosity and community service on his family and all who knew him. His warm and generous spirit of hospitality will be part of his lasting legacy. Anyone who has shared a meal at the Siatras house knows his generous and welcoming spirit firsthand. In more recent years the arrival of his 3 grandkids brought him immense joy. He will be sorely missed by his grandkids who had a special spark in their eyes for their beloved Pappou.  

A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2022 at 5-7p.m. with Trisagion Prayers at 7:00 p.m. at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive). Funeral service will take place on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 10:30a.m. at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church followed by interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
