Obituary of Shyamali Paul
It is with a heavy heart that we report the death of Shyamali (Simu) Paul on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the age of 82. An avid traveller, lover of the arts, supporter of many local charities, and outstanding home chef, she will be missed by all her friends, family and the Bengali community.
Shyamali completed her Bachelors degree with honours in Chemistry and Masters degree in Pure Chemistry at the University of Calcutta and went on to achieve additional Masters in chemistry at the University of Ottawa where she also was a teacher and she also taught chemistry at Algonquin College in Ottawa. She went on to play a very active role in the Bengali community’s Deshantari.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Mrinal Paul, her daughter Ipsita Ross (nee Paul), son-in-law Chad and her two loving grandchildren Lalita (11) and Tobin (10).
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 16 at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) from 10am until the time of the prayer service at 11am in the Pinecrest Chapel. A reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association
