Obituary of Ann Margaret Boyle (nee Ronan)
November 4, 1939 – February 14, 2022
The family of Ann Margaret Boyle sadly announce her passing on February 14, 2022 at The Courtyard’s Retirement Residence in Kanata, Ontario.
Ann was born in Newcastle, N.B. in 1939. She is predeceased by her parents, Margaret (Cassidy) and Wilfred Ronan and her beloved husband, James Edward Boyle and her brothers Patrick and Jimmy. She is survived by her brothers John (Joan) of Ottawa and David (Mary) of Montreal as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Early in her life (1953) family circumstances made it necessary for Ann and her late brother, Jimmy, to relocate to Summerside, PEI and live with their aunt and uncle, Anna (Honey) and Gerry Hayes.
Ann received her high school education in Summerside. After high school, she attended St. Francis Xavier University receiving a BA and then a B.Ed from the University of New Brunswick.
She had a wonderful career teaching in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Ottawa. She was a beloved teacher. She was an avid reader and loved music. She especially loved family gatherings and spending her summers at the cottage in Stanley Bridge, PEI.
Ann and her late husband, Jimmy Boyle, especially enjoyed the many trips to St. John and Boston visiting Jimmy’s family. She often recalled the large gatherings and the fun they had.
Since the passing of her husband in 2015, Ann slowly developed dementia. She moved into The Courtyard’s in 2018. The Courtyard’s is a retirement home specializing in dementia care. Ann had wonderful care there. The caring staff truly love all the residents and we are most grateful for the wonderful care Ann received.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her family, friends and the caretakers at The Courtyard’s.
Family will receive friends at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Church, 2340 Baseline Rd, Ottawa on Thursday, May 26 at 11 a.m. Due to the power outage the evening visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. cannot take place at this time, nor can the reception after the service.
