She is survived by her daughter Susan, and son Ronald. Her stepchildren Michael, Elizabeth (husband Marco) Vita-Finzi, Susan (husband Tim) Gallagher, Greg (wife Cary) Berg. Her sister Glen, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers Keith, Robert, Edward and George, sisters Janet, Sybil, Eunice, Myrtle, Grace, Wanda, Inez, Roma and Irma. Eileen was predeceased by her first husband Wendell Ellis.
Born in Mount Pleasant, PEI she was always proud of being from the maritimes and talked fondly of her happy childhood on a farm with all her siblings. Married after WWII she and Wendell lived all over Canada with the Armed Forces, finally settling in Ottawa. Eileen was an independent woman who worked outside the home most of her life. While in Ottawa she worked for Statistics Canada learning French as it was a requirement for her position, she possessed the will and dedication to meet new challenges. Wendell passed away in 1980. While on a cruise she met and later married Kenneth, they moved to Sudbury and then to Barrie, ON. She realized a longtime dream to open her own fashion boutique which was very successful for 10 years after which she finally retired. She and Ken travelled to many places in Europe, South and North America, and they spent winters in Panama City Beach golfing and meeting up with snowbird friends. Throughout her life Eileen embraced life and pursued many sports including baseball, volleyball and golf. Walking, line dancing, playing bridge and music were other favorite activities.
Her greatest joy was being with family….nostalgic thoughts of fun and laughter of the magic moments spent at the cottage where birthdays, holidays and especially Thanksgiving gave her so much pleasure, along with lazy summer days on the deck.
She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
